Born in Sassuolo, Italy, Elena Postumi has first studied piano, composition and vocal chamber music in Conservatorio di Santa Cecilia in Rome. She then moved to Leipzieg to study in Hochschule für Musik und Theater Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy, earning her doctorate in _______ in 2021.
In the meantime, she graduated from La Sapienza university of Rome in Linguistic and intercultural mediation, focusing on French and German literature.
As a composer sha has premiered a number of orchestral and chamber music works. Among these:
- Concerto fantastico for violin and orchestra, 2019 Ungfónia orchestra, Reykjavík, Pétur Björnsson solo violin.
- Corifeo delle correnti for flute and chamber orchestra, 2021 Elja kammersveit,, Reykjavík, Björg Brjánsdóttir solo flute.
- Becoming Luise Büchner, 2022 Darmstadt Staatstheater.
Throughout the years, Elena has worked with the Icelandic National Opera in the production of La Traviata, Le nozze di Figaro and Die Walküre and with the Bergen Opera Theatre in Norway as pianist and korrepetitor in the project Future Opera. From 2020 to 2023 she has worked as korrepetitor and director linguistic coach for the Staatstheater in Darmstadt.
A versitile pianist, Elena has worked with numerous chamber music ensembles, performing in festivals such as Lied in Dresden and Schwandorfer Klavierfrühling (Germany), and Liepzieg in Huston (USA). In September 2019 she played with Gewandhaus Orchestra in the Leipzieg Opera Theatre, performing the ballet Karnival der Tiere. From 2019 to 2021 she has worked as korrepetitor with the Gewandhaus Academy.
In 2018 she played as a soloist Bach’s two pianos concerto in C major with pianist Tommaso Graiff and Bach in der Box orchestra in Leipzieg, and in 2020 Beethoven’s second piano concerto with Résonnance quintet in Rome.
Starting from 2022 Elena teaches Lied and Italian opera interpretation at the Akademie für Tonkust in Darmstadt.
